Our Boardwalk underneath the Island Eastern Corridor (IEC Boardwalk) project in Hong Kong has received the CEDD Construction Site Safety Award and the CEDD Innovation Award for Site Safety, presented by the Civil Engineering and Development Department (CEDD).
These awards recognise contractors who demonstrate outstanding safety performance and adopt innovative technologies to protect workers and the public.
Part of a transformative waterfront initiative, the 2.2 km IEC Boardwalk completes a 13 km continuous harbourfront promenade from Kennedy Town to Shau Kei Wan, enhancing connectivity and community access along Victoria Harbour.
At IEC Boardwalk, we introduced safety innovations:
- Underwater Drone (Robo Dolphin) - Conducts underwater inspections safely, reducing the need for high-risk diving tasks.
- Smart Robotic Lifesaver - A remote-controlled rescue device enabling quick response from a safe distance.
- Marine Works VR Training – Provides immersive, realistic training experiences that mirror on-site conditions.
- Circucore Pro Drilling System – Deployed in Asia for the first time; a full air and cutting controlled system; designed for safer operations with fewer movements.
These recognitions highlight the strength of our One HSE Culture, a shared commitment to continuous improvement and safety excellence across our One Leighton Asia team.
The project has now received nearly 70 awards, reflecting our drive for innovation and quality in everything we do.
Thank you to CEDD and our project team for championing safety and innovation every step of the way.
