Leighton Asia is using drones to transform how we plan, monitor and manage construction works on a public hospital expansion project in Hong Kong.
How drone technology is reshaping construction:
- Comprehensive progress tracking – Frequent drone flights capture 2D and 3D site models, enabling accurate progress comparisons over time.
- BIM integration – Combining drone data with design models helps our teams to monitor logistics, structures and critical interfaces remotely.
- Enhanced planning & safety – Visualising gridlines, service zones, and underground utilities improves accuracy, reduces risk and supports safe operations near an operating hospital.
- Real-time collaboration – Cloud-based access empowers teams to make informed, data-driven decisions.
The hospital expansion project involves building a new 20-storey hospital block, refurbishing existing facilities, and upgrading infrastructure. Once complete, it will add around 1,500 beds, boosting healthcare capacity for the communities in Hong Kong.
We remain committed to embracing innovation to deliver safer, smarter and more efficient construction across Asia.
