The East Coast Boardwalk is a 2.2 km public space built beneath a marine flyover along the north shore of Hong Kong Island.
As part of the IEC Boardwalk JV, our Hong Kong team is proud to partner with the Civil Engineering Development Department (CEDD) and Meinhardt Infrastructure and Environment using the NEC4 Engineering and Construction Contract. Throughout the project, the project team embraced the NEC principles of mutual trust and cooperation.
The Project encountered several challenges such as restricted headroom, marine piling constraints, as well as the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Notwithstanding these challenges, we worked closely with the client and the project team to find creative solutions. As a result, the first section was completed on time and opened to the public in January 2025.
We remain committed to delivering the rest of the Boardwalk with the same spirit of collaboration.
This project was recently featured by the NEC Division of ICE UK as an international example of collaboration using NEC.
