Leighton Asia’s North-South Corridor N103 project in Singapore has received a Certificate of Excellence in the Land Transport Authority’s 24th Annual Safety, Health and Environmental Award Convention (ASAC).
ASAC is a prestigious industry award to recognise contractors and partners who have outstanding workplace safety, health and environment management practices. The theme for this year is “Innovation and Sustainability for Safety, Health, and Environment Excellence”.
On top of our robust “Strive for LIFE” initiatives and the Group’s “ONE HSE Culture”, the N103 project team has been adopting innovative solutions to build up their capabilities and ensure safe productivity.
A Virtual Reality Training Centre is also set up to provide Class 1 Risk Management VR training for our frontline staff to build their confidence in applying these risk management process.
On the environmental front, the team has been adopting technologies and new work methods to reduce carbon emissions and recycle construction waste.
Some of the key initiatives include:
- The project team built a wet scrubbing system with reused materials that operates with Earth Control Measures recycled water. The system has successfully eliminated approximately 95% of carbon monoxide emission.
- We have digitised our inspection process by using the “Strive for LIFE Inspection” and “Element Champion Reviews” app. These in-house developed applications simplify the inspection process and eliminate the need for paper-based reports and reduced around 65% of paper consumption since implementation.
Having a safe and healthy workplace is fundamental and it requires the commitment and effort of everyone involved. Thank you and congratulations to the team for their strong focus on keeping our people safe.
We will continue to review and reinforce our HSE procedures and performance to ensure a high standard of safety delivery in all our practices.
