Leighton Asia has been awarded a pilot and research project by the Hong Kong Government’s Drainage Services Department (DSD).
The project will establish the first real-time online digital twin optimisation system at the Shek Wu Hui Sewage Treatment Works in Hong Kong.
The artificial intelligence system will assist DSD to collect and process on-site data, and predict and optimise sewage treatment conditions, ensuring optimum water quality while reducing energy consumption.
Research will be undertaken into the future application of the system at all DSD plants in Hong Kong.
Leighton Asia Managing Director Brad Davey said: “The award of this project demonstrates Leighton Asia’s core capability in innovative technology and our commitment to sustainable development.”
Leighton Asia General Manager Hong Kong Colman Wong said: “With a strong and proven track record of delivering best-in-class engineering services in Hong Kong, we are excited to be part of this innovative project for our valued client, DSD.”
Key features will include self-fault identification and rectification, pre-failure prediction, and automatic operation optimization.
