We are thrilled to celebrate the successful completion of Deep Tunnel Sewerage System (DTSS) Phase 2 Tunnelling Works, in partnership with the PUB, Singapore's National Water Agency. A significant milestone!
Leighton Asia was awarded Contract T-09 of DTSS Phase 2 Project in 2017. It includes the design and construction of 7.9km of sewer tunnels, with an internal diameter of 6 meters, as well as multiple gate shafts, hydraulic structures and other air management facilities associated with the used water sewerage conveyance system.
As a leading international contractor committed to digital innovation, our teams never stop exploring the latest technologies. In fact, we were first in Asia to pioneer the use of a ‘Flying Launch’ method to optimize the launch of a Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) in areas with space constraints.
By remotely launching the TBM from 10,000km away in Germany, we not only improved safety, we also saved a significant amount of time in production - especially in the light of the stringent border control measures due to Covid-19.
We take pride in being part of this essential infrastructure project for Singapore that will significantly contribute to its long-term water infrastructure.
