Springleaf Station and Tunnel for Thomson-East Coast Line

Construction of Springleaf Station and Tunnel for Thomson-East Coast Line Contract T208 is part of the 43km Rapid Transit System consisting of 31 new stations and 7 interchange stations. Leighton Asia, with its joint venture partner, has delivered the Springleaf Station, twin bored tunnels totalling 4.4km, substantial earthworks with a cut and cover box midway along the alignment and cut and cover tunnels at the north end of the station, and associated ancillary works. Tunnel excavation was carried out by three slurry type tunnel boring machines, one of which was recovered and re-launched.

This was the second tunnelling project in Singapore awarded to the joint venture since 2011.
