Leighton Asia’s operation in India has been conducting mandatory Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) workshops across its offices and projects to comply with the government’s POSH Act.
The POSH Act mandates every employer is to provide a safe working environment at the workplace. It defines sexual harassment, and lays out the procedures for a complaint and inquiry, and the action to be taken.
It also requires every employer to constitute an Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) at each office with 10 or more employees.
The workshop talked about the importance and implications of the POSH Act, followed by an external committee member of Leighton Asia’s ICC to share ways to prevent sexual harassment in the workplace and some case studies.
At Leighton Asia, part of CIMIC Group, there is zero-tolerance for any form of bullying, harassment, discrimination or vilification. Our Group’s Anti-bullying, harassment and discrimination policy sets out unacceptable workplace behaviour as governed by the laws relating to harassment and discrimination in the workplace and the grievance process.
Organising POSH training is a step toward protecting the rights of women employees and ensuring equality in the workplace. The training complements our Group’s ongoing Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), Discrimination, Anti-Bullying and Harassment training which is promoting diversity and inclusion.
